Everyone loves passive income. As an agent, a steady income can be difficult to come across. However, we will teach you what it takes to make the most out of your license and start to earn money while you sleep with real estate investing. Despite how intimidating it may seem, real estate investing is surprisingly simple. Anyone can do it – including you!
Why Invest in Real Estate?
Real estate investing is the best kind of investing. Unlike stocks, and to some extent, bonds, real estate investing is backed by a high level of brick and mortar. Real estate gives you more control of your investment because your property is a tangible asset that you can leverage to capitalize on numerous revenue streams while enjoying capital appreciation. Also, historically, real estate values go up. As the economy expands, and the demand for real estate drives rents higher. Ultimately, this translates into higher capital values.
What it Takes to Start
1) Have a mentor
They say every great achiever is inspired by a great mentor. For those inexperienced in real estate investing, it’s important to start this journey with an individual who is knowledgeable, and is looking out for your best interest. Even today’s most successful investors are never fully satisfied with their current understanding of the housing market and are constantly striving to learn more. With a mentor by your side, your pursuit for education will take you to the next level, and it’ll serve as the foundation of your entire career.
2) Work with a team
If you’ve worked in real estate for some time, you should know that this is like a team sport. Throughout your career, you work with a lot of individuals who specialize in different areas. Each plays a part in your success, so you must gather the crème of the crop for your real estate investing initiatives. Some of these include your: mentor, business partner, attorney, CPA, lenders, inspectors, handymen, etc.
3) Have money, or know people with money
Chances are, you don’t have millions of dollars to invest – but that’s okay. Chances are you know someone with money that could help you out. Make sure to reward these people with a percentage of your commission for assisting you. Eventually, you will have enough assets to spend on your own. Which leads us to our next point…
4) Worry about the future, not your commission
The first year or so, you will barely breakeven. And that is okay. Like we said before, real estate values go up over time. You have to keep in mind your ROI will be worth it in about 2-3 years. Real estate investing takes time and effort, and it is totally worth it in the end.
